Vikash Mathura and JJ Mathura are widely considered to be one of the darling couples of the South African entertainment industry, and two larger-than-life personalities in the country. Combined, their portfolio of work has spanned local and international radio; television, and stage. Each of them has amassed an enviable fan base. They have been married since 1992, and have two beautiful children, Shabadh and Simran.
After touring the country with various stage productions in the 1980’s, JJ Mathura went on to become the first South African Indian Female anchor-presenter on television in 1988. She then embarked on a very successful radio career as a Presenter and Producer. Vikash Mathura is celebrated as one of the highest profiled radio and theatre personalities in the country. In 1991, he became the country’s first Indian Male anchor-presenter on television. Thereafter, his entry into the radio industry saw him host the station’s highest rated shows for an unprecedented 22 years. His portfolio also includes his work as a television actor; compeer; voice-over artist, and he has appeared in more than 800 theatrical stage performances. Vikash is also the co-creator of the country’s largest Indian-comedy trademark, “Peru & Bala™”.
