JJ Mathura

JJ is best known for being one of the leading radio and television presenters in South Africa, until she left the industry in 2001. As a seasoned Radio DJ, she was the most sought- after media celebrity who rubbed shoulders with many of Bollywood’s Superstars! She then spent time in the education arena, before deciding to expand her passion for Indo-Western fashion into a full time on-line business.

She launched JJ’s Closet in December 2012, and has a growing client base that is spread across Southern Africa. She also holds a BA degree and a HDE from the University of Durban Westville. JJ has been married to Vikash Mathura for 23 years, and they have two children, Shabadh and Simran. Her hobbies include writing; blogging; chick-flicks; travelling and shopping

The Journey

JJS Closet JourneyJJ was holidaying in India…trying to figure out the design for a key ring…whilst absorbing the sights; sounds and culinary delights of Mumbai. But, she also needed a logo for JJ’s Closet. She picked up a writing pad and a pencil in her hotel suite, and started sketching different design options. After a few hours, she settled on what has become her trademark symbol for her on- line boutique.

She then took her sketch to a local entrepreneur in Kolaba (India). And the rest…as they say…
is history!
